Good morning  (Tongue in cheek of course) back in 1940/50's we had no electricity just a gas lamp on the wall , outside toilet 100 yards down at the bottom of the garden had to use newspaper and the print came off , people don't know they have been born these days washed the clothes in the sink, ice on the inside of the windows no TV or radio ,everything on ration books had to pay to see a doctor so never saw one ,used to sit in the dark playing cards by candle light if you had enough candles one pair of good shoes between 3 of us boys used to take it in turns wearing them to school ,the only places to play was bomb hit ruins of houses now people are asking how can they save money the we never had to worry about that we never had any  I could go on but the above facts were only a small percentage of the hardships suffered by the now older generation
